Category 4 Hurricane Michael made landfall on Mexico Beach, FL, just south of Panama City, on October 10, 2018 as the most powerful hurricane in recorded history to strike the Florida Panhandle.
City Church in Panama City, Fl, one of the many churches affected, is struggling to recover from 75% of their buildings being destroyed or severally damaged along with 6 staff member's homes. At least 95% of the congregation's homes suffered damaged as well. Some are living in campers, in damaged homes, and some are even in tent cities. City Church's congregation has a long road to recovery. They are overwhelmed by the destruction. That's why it's so important and they are so thankful for our partnership to support them financially and physically.
We have committed to send volunteers to help with the recovery by clearing debris, mudouts, and eventually rebuilding. We are asking our church family to be a part of this effort, reaching beyond our walls, in a practical way. Multiple one week and 2 night trips are planned over the next few months. Many hands will be needed. Time and transportation are your only commitment. Lodging, meals, tools and training will be provided.
Volunteers must be at least 14 years or older. Youth, ages 14-15, must be accompanied by their parent/legal guardian. Our first trip is has two options; December 31, 2018 - January 5, 2019 or January 3 - 5, 2019. For more information or to sign up, click the link below.
"From the first time we had worship following the storm, we began to pray for partners, for congregations who would help see us through this season of recovery. We want to say thank you to the entire family of FishHawk Fellowship Church for your generosity, commitment, support, and your prayers. It is making an incredible difference."
- Luther Stanford, Lead Pastor of City Church
