WHAT ARE THE criteria TO SERVE ON THE SEARCH COMMITTEE?

Our goal is to have a diverse and inclusive search committee. We are encouraging broad cross section of FFC to prayerfully consider if this is their calling. This would include women & men from many ages and occupations. For the specific details of the criteria, please see the Criteria for Serving on The Senior Pastor Search Committee.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP WITH THIS PROCESS?
  1. PRAYER: Participate in the Thirty Days of Prayer that precedes the Search Committee election
  2. PATIENCE: According to the Apostle James, prayer precedes all other virtues. We must trust the future we cannot see to the God that can.
  3. PARTICIPATE: Be certain to fill out the congregation survey when it becomes available if you want your voice to be heard. Additionally, make plans to attend the Search Committee election on September 15th. Help us in our pursuit to select our next great Pastor.
What about our seven year vision to reach our community?

Our seven year vision of connecting an additional 2,000 to the love of Christ, baptizing 1,000, and raising up and sending out 100 God-called men and women into ministry is both a staff-owned and church-embraced vision. The seven year vision wasn’t Pastor David’s vision for FFC but a vision that God gave to our church as a whole. We will continue to striving to accomplish these God-sized goals.

What will happen to the sports ministry that was part of the vision?

Summer basketball camps are already scheduled and will go on, as well as our plans for a fall sports league for the children and families in our area. Our sports ministry is a key component of our seven year vision which is why we designed and built our new worship and recreation space like we did.

How long do you think it will take to find another senior pastor?

There really isn’t a way to answer this question directly because so much depends on God’s timing. We want to move forward by faith, with much prayer, seeking God’s direction as we go.

Could one of the existing pastor’s on our staff be considered for the senior pastor position?

Yes, the search committee process outlined in our church bylaws is there to consider all qualified candidates as we pray and seek the man that God has called to be our next senior pastor.

What role does the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC) and Florida Baptist Convention (FBC) play in the Senior Pastor search?

For the most part both the SBC and FBC will play the role of an encourager in our search for a new Senior Pastor. Unlike other denominations, every southern Baptist church chooses its own pastors and staff. Should we ask them to, both the SBC and FBC will provide us with resumes of prospective candidates and/or post our open search process on their websites. In addition, different leaders within the SBC and FBC might also recommend people to us if they think someone would be a good fit but to be clear, the SBC and FBC do NOT appoint pastors to churches.

If I have questions, who can I go to?

You can go to the senior pastor search landing page on our church website or you can email  with any questions that you have.

What can I expect to change at FFC?

While there will be a change in senior leadership in the future, the mission and vision of FFC will continue to move forward. We will continue to have inspiring weekend worship on Saturdays and Sundays. All of our age-based ministries will continue to provide compelling environments for our kids and students. Life Groups will launch again this Fall. We will continue to be intentional, pray with hope, reach beyond our walls, and speak God’s truth in love.

HOW DO WE HONOR PASTOR DAVID WHITTEN FOR ALL THAT HE HAS DONE FOR FFC?

We can all pray for Pastor David, his family and his new church during this transition time. His legacy will serve as the foundation for the future of FFC. Because of all that he has done, God will bless our church with glorious days ahead.
