Why is there a $10 registration fee?In past years, there have been a large number of children that were registered and never attended VBS. Therefore, we have spent thousands of dollars on supplies and snacks for children who register, but did not attend. The $10 fee is to help cover some of the cost of each child that comes to VBS and allows us to be good stewards of the church’s funds.
What week is VBS planned for this year? This year’s VBS will begin on Monday, June 17th and run through Thursday, June 20th. The hours will be from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Drop off will begin at 8:45 am. We are planning an off-campus event for Friday, June 21st. More details regarding Friday’s event will be provided when available.
What are the ages for kids to participate in VBSOur VBS program is designed for Elementary age children that have completed Kindergarten through completed 4th grade. There is a special program for completed 5th Graders led by Student Ministry volunteers during the same week. Any Preschool children (including completed VPK) of parents or grandparents that are serving in VBS will be able to participate in a modified VBS program.
Will there be a registration cut off?Yes, June 3rd at midnight is the registration deadline. A registration deadline is important to allow us time to complete the VBS groups and to best plan for the week.
Will we need to complete medical releases for our kids?Yes, we require a medical release for your child to attend VBS. They can be found on the church website when you register and the link will be included in your email confirmation.
What do the kids do during VBS?Kids will begin in the Worship Rally to get powered up for the day with music, a fun video, and exciting guest speakers presenting a daily Bible lesson. After the Worship Rally, kids will go to four different rotations (Crafts, Snacks/Small Group, Recreation, and Missions/Music).
Can my child invite a friend? Will they also pay a fee?Yes, please invite friends!! The primary focus of VBS is to reach beyond our walls into the community and invite kids to attend VBS. Your child will be provided a Golden Ticket to give to the friends that they invite. The Golden Ticket allows the guest to register for free.
What if I want to bring a friend to VBS who did not register? We will make every effort to accommodate late registration if space is available. They will also need a medical release signed by a parent.
Can my child be put in their friends’ group?Due to the size of our VBS program, we will be unable to accept these requests. However, if a child registers using a Golden Ticket, we will make every effort to put them in their friends’ group if they are the same grade and gender.
What are completed 5th graders doing during VBS?Completed 5th graders will be led by our Student Ministry team and will remain on campus during VBS week. The goal of this program is to provide a smooth transition for our completed 5th Graders into our Student Ministry in the Fall.
How big is VBS expected to be this year?Based on previous years’ registration and attendance, we expect over 800 kids this year!
What are the qualifications if I want to volunteer? It’s easy! You must love children and simply complete a background check form in order to serve. Volunteers must register by June 3rd and attend one of the trainings: June 9th 6:00-7:30pm or June 13th 6:00-7:30pm.
How many volunteers do you need to serve in VBS?As many as possible!! We must have over 200 trained volunteers in order to have a safe VBS program. We always need more volunteers due to a growing VBS ministry.
I have a middle schooler, can they volunteer at VBS?Kids who are completed 6th grade-completed 8th grade can volunteer WITH a parent or grandparent also volunteering at VBS.
I have volunteered at VBS before, do I still need to attend the training?Yes, volunteers are required to attend one of the trainings in order to serve during VBS. Trainings are being held on June 9th 6:00-7:30pm or June 13th 6:00-7:30pm.
